Trying to install with a kernel 2.6.39 the kernel generation fails and then later the entire installer fails with a libc double free backtrace.

Confirming, can't you, AMD, do drivers in the same way NVIDIA does?? i don't remember if I EVER had such problems with NVIDIA drivers. With fglrx? EVERY SINGLE NEW KERNEL MEANS TROUBLES FOR AMD CATALYST. Terrible.

This message is a reminder that your bug is marked as Catalyst 11.6.

The current Catalyst version is 11.12.

Approximately 7 days from now the Bugzilla administrator will be removing the
11.6 version. At that time your bug will be CLOSED as WONTFIX.

This bug is being closed due to the 'version' being 11.6 after 7 days of the
previous closure notice.
